There are over 4.3 million ordinary Australians which may not even know that they own a stake in the incredible $7.3 billion dollars of unclaimed superannuation.

Complete a search at the ATO or you can contact them directly 13 28 65. Note: You will need your Tax File Number to complete the search.

Step 3

Search the State Lost Monies Registers and ASIC:
NSW - The Public Trustee of NSW - Unclaimed Monies Search
QLD - The Public Trustee of QLD - Unclaimed Monies Search
VIC - The State Trustees of Victoria - Unclaimed Monies Search
WA - The Public Trustee of Western Australia - Unclaimed Monies Search
ACT - The Public Trustee of Australian Capital Territory - Unclaimed Monies Search
TAS - The Public Trustee of Tasmania - Unclaimed Monies Search
SA - The Department of Treasury & Finance South Australia (08) 8226 3601

ASIC - Australian Securities and Investments Commission ASIC Unclaimed Monies Search

Step 4

Search any Industry Super Funds: You will need to do some investigation to find out which fund was relevant to your industry. Example: Host Plus is a industry Superannuation Fund for hospitality and tourism industry employees. You will need to contact them directly and ask them to conduct a search on their system for any accounts they may have in your name.

Step 5

Previous Employers: You will need to contact any of your previous employers and ask them which superannuation fund they contributed your monies into. For further information on Employer obligations and superannuation go to: www.ato.gov.au/super
